Reconnect Fremont
We can Reconnect Fremont by creating five at-grade crossings on Aurora Ave and two new transit stops for the E-Line.
Reconnecting Fremont would remove literal barriers, making it possible for people of all ages and abilities to move freely and safely about the neighborhood while enjoying all that Fremont has to offer.
Not only is the 41st Street Pedestrian Bridge over 100 years old, this rare crossing of Aurora is not accessible to people using a wheelchair, stroller, scooter, or bike.
The Woodland Park Zoo has written a letter of support.
The Seattle School Traffic Safety Committee has previously requested improvements in Fremont.

History
In August 2021, members of Ballard Fremont Green Streets and the Aurora Reimagined Coalition conducted a walk audit of the Fremont section of Aurora Ave N.
In February 2022, we published a vision for Fremont.
In April 2023, we published a vision for the bicycling / micro-mobility network along Aurora.
In June 2024, we conducted another walk audit in the Fremont section.
In April 2026, we hosted a Reconnecting Fremont walk.
